Listening:
This month, I had the chance to see Elmiene in concert, and it was an unforgettable experience. Despite being under the weather, Elmiene delivered an incredible show. I left the concert feeling inspired by his dedication to the craft—his ability to create such an intimate and moving atmosphere even while sick is a reminder of the power of resilience in creativity. Elmiene’s new album Anyways I Can has been in my rotation since it dropped. Crystal Tears stands out as my go to song. Its soulful tones and introspective lyrics create a beautifully calming atmosphere that grounds me and helps ideas flow. R&B always centers me, and this album is the perfect backdrop for creativity, settling my mind and inspiring me with every listen.
Sneaking in another Elmiene favorite, Mama.
I’ve also been diving into Tyler, The Creator’s latest album, which, as always, brings a refreshing, boundary-pushing perspective to music. Chromakopia by Tyler, The Creator, is more than just an album—it’s a vibrant showcase of Tyler’s ever-evolving artistry. Known for pushing boundaries, Tyler blends jazz, soul, and hip-hop in ways that feel completely fresh yet undeniably his own. With each track, he explores themes of self-reflection, identity, and creativity, all while taking his music to new depths.
What I admire most about Tyler is that he’s never confined himself to one role. He’s not just a musician; he’s a visionary with his clothing lines, fragrances, and a constant evolution in sound that defies categorization. Tyler inspires me to embrace my own versatility, reminding me that I’m more than just a jewelry maker. Like him, I’m a writer, a creative spirit, and someone who finds expression in many forms. Chromakopia feels like the perfect soundtrack to that journey—a reminder that our work can be limitless if we let it be.
Reading:
Growing up with Wu tang Clan’s music shaped my perspective on lyricism, authenticity, and storytelling. One book that’s been an anchor in my life is The Tao of Wu by RZA. It’s a work I’ve returned to time and again, drawn to its layers of wisdom, insight, and perspective. RZA doesn’t just share philosophy; he intertwines spirituality and creativity in a way that resonates deeply. With each read I find words that remind me to stay grounded, focused and intentional. RZA’s reflections are both poetic and practical, offering guidance not just for navigating life but also for approaching my work with clarity and purpose.
Also on my nightstand is The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store by James McBride, a compelling read that blends history, culture, and community into an unforgettable story. Set in a small town in Pennsylvania, it tells the story between residents, revealing the strength that comes from unity in the face of hardship. McBride’s vibrant characters and dynamic storytelling weave together a narrative that feels both familiar and surprising, reminding us of the beauty in diversity and the power of resilience.
Fashion:
The Return of the Isabel Marant Bekett Wedge Sneaker
This month, I’m paying homage to the iconic Isabel Marant Bekett wedge sneaker—a shoe that’s somehow both sporty and chic, making it the ultimate casual statement piece. The Bekett first took the fashion world by storm in the early 2010s, defining an era where sneakers could be high-fashion and still keep that streetwear edge. The Bekett is a quintessential IT girl shoe; my first sighting of them was instant lust. I remember when I first got my hands on a pair (okay, knock-offs, thank you Steve Madden) back in 2012, and I wore them with everything, from jeans to dresses. Fast-forward to today, and this sneaker style is back, adding a nostalgic twist to modern fashion.
Now, I’m not just dreaming about these beauties— I’ve fully committed, with three pairs of Marants tucked away in my closet. (And yes, my wallet has definitely felt the “investment.”) I’m still on the lookout for a red pair, but that’s a part of the fun though. You can’t talk about the Bekett without giving a nod to Beyonce, who took their popularity to new heights. She exhibited a blend of comfort, effortless style and forward-thinking fashion.
The return of the Bekett is like welcoming an old friend back—familiar yet fresh. They’re a reminder that great style doesn’t follow rules; it reinvents them. The Bekett remains a true game-changer, proving that the best styles never really go out—they just wait for the perfect moment to return.
Exploring:
When it comes to art, I often find myself scrolling aimlessly through Pinterest, getting lost in an endless stream of colors, textures, and ideas. This seemingly random browsing has become a go-to source of inspiration. It’s like diving into a sea of creativity, where every scroll brings something new and unexpected. Though certain artist always manage to stop me in my tracks.
One recent example is French artist Martial Raysse, particularly his piece Made in Japan - La Grande Odalisque. Raysee reimagines classic forms through a bold and modern lens. His work takes traditional subjects and infuses them with contemporary energy. the colors are electric, and the composition is slightly surreal. The beauty of reinvention is how art can honor tradition while embracing change.
Here’s a collection of his art.
This month, I’ve been drawn to documentaries and movies that challenge the norm. From visually striking films to thought-provoking documentaries. Stay tuned for future editions where I’ll highlight specific titles that have left an impression.
Each piece in The Eana Edit reflects our philosophy at Eana: to inspire a life rich in creativity and personal expression. By connecting with art, music, literature, and more, we open ourselves up to a world of inspiration that translates into our jewelry and our daily lives.
Check back next month for more of our favorite finds, and feel free to share what’s inspiring you, too—whether it’s a song, a book, or a piece of art. Until then, happy exploring!
