The Eana Edit: Year-End Edition
We’re closing out 2024 with a special edition of The Eana Edit—a two-for-one roundup that combines all our favorite finds from November and December. We’re wrapping up 2024 in style with everything that’s fueled our creativity, sparked joy, and kept us grounded during the close of the year. This edition captures the best of both months. Whether you’re here for music recs, style inspiration, or just to check in on what’s keeping us inspired, you’re in for a treat. This isn’t just a recap—it’s a celebration of everything we loved in 2024 and a way to set the tone for an exciting new chapter in 2025.
Listening:
We’re taking it back to 2014 with Majid Jordan’s "Her"—a track that has effortlessly transcended time and still hits just as hard today. This smooth electronic-R&B gem feels like a late-night conversation with your heart. The song’s narrative of turbulence giving way to clarity mirrors that moment when you realize a connection, though rocky, can find its way back to calm waters. The lyrics capture that aching blend of longing and discovery—like finally meeting someone who feels like home after years of searching. It’s not just about finding love but the overwhelming realization that this is the moment everything changes.
What makes this song even more powerful is the silent pause before the outro. It’s like time briefly stands still, giving you space to breathe in the weight of those words. That quiet beat is so intentional—it mirrors the way life sometimes slows down during moments of clarity and emotional intensity. When the music returns, it feels like an exhale, carrying you gently to the end of the song, making the experience even more unforgettable. Whether you’re in love or navigating heartbreak, "Her" captures the push and pull of emotions in a way that feels almost cinematic. It’s the kind of song that makes you close your eyes and feel every lyric.
Fast forward to 2023, Majid Jordan released another soul-soothing track: "Eyes Closed." This song feels like a quiet plea for presence, trust, and closeness—a sonic reminder that sometimes the most powerful moments in love happen when the world fades away, and it’s just the two of you. With lyrics like "Forget about the world when we’re alone," the duo captures the beauty of stillness, where being with the right person makes everything else feel small and distant. There’s a deep vulnerability in those words—a kind of surrender to intimacy and the simplicity of just existing in someone else’s orbit.
"Eyes Closed is earnest, deliberate, and grounded in the kind of storytelling Majid Jordan does best. The track holds space for reflection, for the quiet moments of love that are often overlooked in grand gestures. Whether you’re daydreaming about someone who feels like home or trying to hold on to a fleeting connection, this song wraps you in warmth. If "Her" was the introduction to the complexities of love and uncertainty—then "Eyes Closed" is the anthem for finding peace in vulnerability and learning to be fully present in it.
When it comes to Majid Jordan, their discography feels like the perfect soundtrack for every mood—whether you’re caught up in love, reflecting on life, or just vibing out. It’s no surprise that my favorite songs are "Her" and "Eyes Closed"—both tracks are emotional yet smooth, capturing the complexity of relationships with their signature blend of electronic-R&B magic. Rounding out my favorites are "Tears in Your Eyes," "Waiting for You," and "Pacifico"—each one offering a unique vibe, from introspective late-night feels to sunny-day escapes. If you’re new to Majid Jordan or just revisiting their music, this list is the perfect starting point.
Watching:
One of the most anticipated releases of 2024 was the Wicked movie—a reimagining of the Broadway musical that flips the familiar world of The Wizard of Oz through the lens of Elphaba, the so-called "wicked" witch. This adaptation promised to be more than just a musical—it’s a celebration of friendship, power, and perspective. And let’s be real—it was impossible to ignore the questionably massive marketing budget that practically made Wicked a global event before it even hit the theaters. Billboards, social ads, branded playlists—if you’ve been outside or online, you’ve seen Wicked.
I won’t spoil it, but the movie itself did not disappoint. From the sweeping shots of the Emerald City to the emotional close-ups of Elphaba grappling with her identity, every scene felt meticulously crafted. The cinematography enhanced the story’s timeless themes of acceptance, self-discovery, and the complexities of good versus evil. And the music? Absolutely iconic. Classic showstoppers like Defying Gravity and Popular were given a cinematic glow-up. Cynthia Erivo’s portrayal of Elphaba was raw and breathtaking—her vulnerability made every note hit harder. Of course, the theater experience only added to the magic. By the third song I already ordered a themed cocktail specifically the one named after Elphaba—a green, citrusy drink.
Whether you’re a die-hard fan of the Broadway original or completely new to the world of Wicked, this movie is worth the hype. Just a few days later I found myself watching a bad quality recording of Part 2 on YouTube.
Art:
If you’ve been following Eana for a while, you know I’m deeply inspired by art that tells a story. Mia Lee’s work is a masterclass in storytelling through visual art. Her ability to blend raw emotion with striking imagery creates pieces that explore themes of identity, intimacy, and self-reflection. With bold colors and dynamic forms, her art feels both deeply personal and universally relatable, making it resonate on multiple levels.
Her artistry showcases an incredible balance between vulnerability and strength, with each creation inviting viewers to pause and reflect. The way she plays with texture and emotional depth has positioned her as a standout in contemporary art, continuously pushing the boundaries of what self-expression can look like. Mia’s art feels like a dialogue—thought-provoking and beautifully layered, it draws you in and invites you to see yourself in the stories she tells. If you haven’t yet explored her portfolio, it’s an experience worth diving into.
Alvin Ailey was a visionary choreographer and founder of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. A pioneer in American modern dance, Ailey used movement to tell powerful stories rooted in Black culture, history, and resilience. His most celebrated work, Revelations, is a stunning reflection of the Black experience, blending spirituality, struggle, and joy.
The Edges of Ailey exhibit at the Whitney Museum is a breathtaking tribute to the iconic choreographer who redefined American dance. The exhibit weaves together archival footage, photos, costumes, and multimedia installations that transport you into the heart of Ailey’s world. It beautifully captures his revolutionary vision, the cultural significance of his work, and his enduring legacy as a trailblazer in both the arts and civil rights. Each element of the exhibit feels alive, showcasing not only his contributions to dance but also his profound impact on storytelling, resilience, and self-expression.
Whether you're an admirer of contemporary art, a dance enthusiast, or someone who simply appreciates powerful storytelling, the Alvin Ailey exhibit is a must-see that will leave you moved and inspired. This exhibit checks all the boxes for a memorable experience. It’s perfect for a solo visit when you want to get lost in the history and emotion of the art, a great friend outing if you’re looking to explore something new together, or even a unique date night filled with inspiration and meaningful conversation. Plus, the Whitney Museum offers free admission on Fridays from 5–10 PM.
Here are some pictures I took at the exhibit.
Fashion:
When it comes to fashion, there’s nothing quite like the thrill of finding a hidden gem—and thrifted fashion has become my not-so-secret obsession. I’m an avid scroller on Poshmark, always on the hunt for unique pieces that feel both personal and timeless. Back in November, I stumbled across a mini Burberry purse in great condition for only $75. A quick search showed the same bag listed for over $400 on TheRealReal. The excitement of scoring a treasure at a fraction of the price? Unmatched.
Shopping secondhand isn’t just about finding great deals—it’s also a more sustainable approach to fashion that benefits both your wardrobe and the environment. By giving pre-loved pieces a new home, we help reduce waste, lower the demand for fast fashion, and extend the life of well-crafted items that deserve to be worn and appreciated. It’s a simple but impactful way to support a more circular fashion economy, where quality matters over quantity. And let’s be real—it’s one of the best ways to access designer goods without paying the premium price.
It taps into the joy of discovery—each piece feels like it comes with its own story and character that makes it even more special. Whether it’s a vintage leather jacket with just the right amount of wear or a pair of timeless heels, there’s something satisfying about knowing you’ve found something rare and uniquely yours. Thrifting forces you to slow down and be intentional, challenging you to curate a wardrobe filled with pieces that genuinely reflect your style. I could easily write an entire blog dedicated to my secondhand finds, from Poshmark steals to one-of-a-kind flea market treasures (don’t get me started on the home goods!). If you’re not already thrifting, this is your sign to start—you never know what stories are waiting to be uncovered.
Exploring:
In December, I hosted my closest friends for a Christmas soirée—a night filled with good food, and that warm feeling of community that makes the season special. I had been planning for weeks, mapping out perfect menu, and I went for it. When I was younger, my mom always held Sunday dinners or had people over for impromptu gatherings, so hosting has felt like second nature to me—something comforting and familiar. I wanted this night to reflect that same spirit of connection and celebration. I made the juiciest miso-glazed chicken, fluffy rice with a subtle hint of coconut, and vegan chorizo meatballs that packed a punch. For snacking, I served mini turkey sandwiches and maple cider cornbread with yuzu-passion fruit butter (yes, it was just as delicious as it sounds). I even ended the night with a rich vegan chocolate mousse that felt indulgent but light.
At every gathering, there’s always a request for my signature empanadas, arroz con gandules, or mac and cheese—it’s tradition at this point. But for this soirée, I wanted to step outside of the usual and introduce something different. However, the beauty of hosting isn’t just about the food or the decor; it’s about creating a space where people feel seen, valued, and connected. It’s a reminder that community isn’t just built in big gestures, but in the quiet moments of laughter, shared stories, and trying something new together. There’s something magical about gathering around a table and making memories, and I’m already thinking about what I’ll cook next.

A Year of Growth and Gratitude:
2024 was nothing short of interesting—a year that felt both tumultuous and tranquil at once. It’s been a ride full of highs and lows, lessons, and meaningful moments. I stepped outside my comforts zone, traveled, made memories with my favorite people, and celebrated Hello Eana’s fourth year in business—a milestone that felt both surreal and well-earned. It was a reminder of how far this journey has come and how much more there is to build.
As we look toward 2025, I’m feeling hopeful and excited for what’s next. This new chapter is all about leaning into curiosity, looking outside of the box, and embracing creativity in all areas of life. Whether that means experimenting more, taking risks in ways I haven’t before, or finding new ways to connect with the Eana community, I’m ready. Here’s to making 2025 the year of bold moves, fresh ideas, and celebrating every step along the way.
I know this one was a bit longer, but I had two months of catching up to do! Each edition of The Eana Edit reflects our core philosophy: to celebrate creativity and personal expression in every form. Whether it’s through art, music, literature, or everyday moments, we believe inspiration fuels not only our jewelry but also how we show up in the world.
Check back at the beginning of February when we wrap up January and share even more of our favorite finds. Until then, I’d love to know—what was your favorite part of 2024 and what are you looking forward to in 2025? Drop a note or tag @helloeana.
Stay curious, and happy exploring!
